Bishop Bans Fund Raising That Harms Human Embryos

WINDSOR, Ontario, MAY 12, 2004 (Zenit.org).- Catholic students who raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society will have to ensure their donations are not used to fund research that uses human embryos to find cures for such diseases as leukemia, a bishop said.

In a letter to directors of education, Bishop Ronald Fabbro of the London Diocese said while Catholics can continue to support the Canadian Cancer Society because «they do all sorts of good works.»

But Catholics must ensure the money being donated is not used for controversial research that causes embryos to die, the bishop said, according to a National Post report today.
