Blessing Will Build Culture of Life

A response to:Bishops Approve Blessing for Newly Conceived

I hope that the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments approves this blessing quickly, and that it comes into common use throughout the Catholic Church.

It sends a powerful message of the sanctity of all human life, and evokes rich biblical accounts of the call of prophets before their birth, and the Visitation.

This is a measure that should be raised with ecumenical partners. Perhaps Orthodox and Protestant churches would wish to consider such a blessing as well. If all Christian churches began blessing children in the womb, I think it would do a tremendous amount of good, both for those children, and also for building a culture of life.
