A response to: Cardinal: Leave Church Doors Open

A number of years ago churches were left open 24/7. No more. Especially in the inner cities. Security is utmost, especially for the Blessed Sacrament. One Church near me stays open till 9 P.M. during the summer months, unless the Pastor has to go out. When it get darker earlier it is locked at 6 P.M. At all time there is a security system on.

Another church, not far away has Adoration after the 8 A.M. Mass on 1st Friday. When the priests have to leave to go visiting the sick the Sacrament is reposed and the church is locked up till they get back. Even the local Catholic Hospital locks their chapel up sometimes rather early in the evening. People tried to steal things from the chapel. Now it is hard to pray in any privacy as there is a camera on the whole chapel and can be seen in the security office 24/7.

Sad that people who want to spend time with Our Lord are denied the privilege and right because of some bad guys.
