PHILADELPHIA, JULY 20, 2010 (Zenit.org).- An upcoming Theology of the Body Congress is now being offered worldwide through the Internet, as the onsite registration has been sold out.

The Theology of the Body Institute is holding its first national congress July 28-30 near Philadelphia, drawing in a variety of speakers to give presentations and workshops on this topic from various perspectives: pastoral ministry, catechesis and evangelization, philosophy and theology, marriage and family.

Speakers include: Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadelphia; Father Richard Hogan, author, editor and television host; Helen Alvaré, law professor and advisor of the Pontifical Council for the Laity; Father Thomas Loya; Sister Helena Burns of the Daughters of St. Paul; Janet Smith; Lisa Hendey; Brian Gail; Katrina Zeno; Pia de Solenni; Anastasia Northrop; Father Roger Landry; Peter Colosi; Bill Donaghy; Damon Owens; Michael Waldstein; Monica Ashour; Gregory Popcak; Glen Stanton; Jake Samour; Bob Schuchts; and Philip Mango.

Maria Stumpf, the institute’s director of operations and programs, said that the congress registrations “quickly sold out.”

The institute reported that the 450 registered attendees — from ten countries — include 42 priests, 16 sisters and five deacons.

Plans came together to stream the keynote addresses and selected presentations live over the Internet, for people worldwide who are unable to attend.

Stumpf stated, “Our intent in pursuing a live-streaming option was to provide everyone with an opportunity to be a part of this landmark event.”
