Officials Named for Evangelization Council

VATICAN CITY, MAY 13, 2011 ( Leadership positions for the new Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization are being filled.

The Vatican announced today that Archbishop José Octavio Ruiz Arenas and Monsignor Graham Bell were named secretary and undersecretary, respectively.

Archbishop Ruiz Arenas had been serving as the vice president of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America. The 66-year-old prelate is a native of Colombia.

Monsignor Graham Bell had been serving as the secretary coordinator of the Pontifical Academy for Life.

<p>Archbishop Salvatore Fisichella is the president of the evangelization council, which Benedict XVI established last year.
