Before Heading to Madrid, Pope Asks for Prayer

CASTEL GANDOLFO, Italy, AUG. 17, 2011 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI took advantage of his last public audience before World Youth Day to ask the faithful their prayers for the success of the event.

The Pope leaves for Madrid on Thursday, where he will join as many as 1 million youth expected for WYD.

“Tomorrow, as you know, I will travel to Madrid, where I will have the joy of meeting with so many young people gathered there for the 26th World Youth Day,” the Holy Father said as he concluded today’s general audience.

“I ask you to unite yourselves spiritually in prayer during this important ecclesial event," the Pontiff said. “I thank you for your prayer.”
