This is the fourth consecutive year that an evening-night can be spent admiring the frescoes of the Sistine Chapel and treasures of the Vatican Museums.
Although the Museums will be open until 11 pm, the last admission is at 9:30 pm. Prior registration is obligatory.
In addition to the Sistine Chapel it is possible to visit the Pius Clementine Museum, the Egyptian Museum, the Upper Galleries (candelabra, tapestries and maps), the Raphael Rooms, some rooms of the Borgia Apartment and the Collection of Modern Religious Art.
The invitation to view “by night” is addressed to the thousands of tourists who arrive in the Italian capital, but especially to the “Roman people: families with children, young couples, youngsters who are involved in work and family activities during the regular hours of the Museums’ opening, [who] can finally re-appropriate the Museums, viewing them and enjoying them in a quiet and special atmosphere,” explained the Museums’ director, Antonio Paolucci.
