A “million-woman march” has been organized in the Nigerian capital of Abuja, in protest of Boko Haram’s recent abduction of more than 200 schoolgirls.

The abduction occurred two weeks ago at a school in Chibok, a town in the northeast of the nation.

Parents of the kidnapped girls are reporting that their daughters are being sold off as brides, according to Halite Aliyu of the Borno-Yobe People’s Forum in an interview with The Associated Press.

“The latest reports are that they have been taken across the borders, some to Cameroon and Chad,” Aliyu added.

The girls are between 16 and 18 years old and were kidnapped from their school while in the midst of exam time.

The mass kidnapping came hours after a massive explosion in Abuja, in which 75 people were killed and 141 were wounded.

Around 50 of the kidnapped girls managed to escape from the captors within the first days after their abduction.

Some 200 girls remain missing, however.
