Pope Francis met today with President Klaus Werner Iohannis of Romania, in the Apostolic Palace at the Vatican.
According to a communique by the Holy See Press Office, the meeting took place on the 25th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Romania on May 15, 1990.
“The parties focused on bilateral relations characterized by fruitful collaboration, as well as the relations between the State authorities and the local Catholic communities, and the healthy co-existence of minorities,” the communique stated.
After discussing issues affecting regions in the world, President Werner met privately with Cardinal Pietro Parolin and Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States. (J.A.E.)
