Towards the end of his General Audience today, Pope Francis recalled his recent visit to Turin.

The Holy Father took the opportunity to express his “heartfelt gratitude to the people of Turin and Piedmont for their warm hospitality.” He also thanked Archbishop Cesare Nosiglia, archbishop of Turin, as well as the priests, consecrated people and bishops for their participation during his visit.

“A special thought goes to the sick of the Cottolengo, who with the offer of their sufferings sustain the life of the Church,” he said. “I thank from my heart the numerous young people for their daring, their witness and their desire to live the values of the Gospel.”

The 78 year old Pontiff also thanked civil authorities and employees who made his visit possible.

“Dear people of Turin,” he concluded, “I truly felt at home, embraced by your affection and your hospitality. May the Lord bless you all and your beautiful city.”
