The Easter season had an extra moment of joy when Pope Francis greeted his predecessor, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.
According to a note from the Holy See Press Office, the Argentine Pontiff visited the Pope Emeritus at his residence, Mater Ecclesiae monastery in the Vatican gardens on Wednesday afternoon to offer Easter greetings and best wishes for Benedict’s 90th birthday.
The German retired Pope’s birthday, April 16, coincides with Easter this year.
