Pope Francis has condemned the ‘abhorrent attack’ in Kabul.
In a telegram sent on his behalf by Vatican Secretary of State, the Pontiff did so, as he sent his condolences to the loved ones of the victims of the terrorist attack this morning in the Afghan city of Kabul.
During rush hour this morning, a massive explosion rocked a diplomatic area of the city, killing at least 80 and injuring 350.
«Having learned with sadness of the abhorrent attack in Kabul and of the many dead and seriously injured,» the telegram began, «Pope Francis expresses his heartfelt condolences to all affected by this brutal act of violence.»
«His Holiness commends the souls of the deceased to the mercy of the Almighty, and assures the people of Afghanistan of his continued prayers for peace,» it concluded.
