Pope Francis said he was “happy to receive the new Priests of the Legionaries of Christ, with their brethren and relatives” during his December 20, 2017, General Audience in Paul VI Hall at the Vatican.
The Legionaries attending the audience were among the 33 members of the congregation ordained priests in the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls in Rome on December 16, 2017.
The Legion of Christ is a religious congregation of the Catholic Church formed by priests and candidates for the priesthood, founded in 1941. Present in 21 countries, it has 4 bishops, 961 priests and 617 members who are religious in formation or novices, according to data from December 31, 2016.
