International catecheses online will be proposed to families, in view of the preparation for the 9th World Meeting of Families, to be held in Dublin, Ireland, from August 21-26, 2018. The initiative of the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life was presented at the Vatican on January 25.
Cardinal Kevin Farrell, the Dicastery’s Prefect, specified that the catecheses will be available on the official Website www.laityfamilylife.va beginning February 2. Videos and musical works will accompany the seven “simple and stimulating” catecheses, which are built around the evangelical account of the finding of Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:41-52), and the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia.
The following themes will be addressed: a concrete look at today’s families; the Word of God to enlighten the lives of families; God’s dream for each family; frailties and weaknesses; the culture of life; the culture of hope; the culture of joy. Each catechesis opens with a prayer and ends with questions.
A “musical itinerary” is also proposed, notably with Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, recorded in great European Basilicas (The Holy Family of Barcelona, the Saint John Paul II Shrine at Krakow and Saint Stephen’s Basilica in Budapest).
Cardinal Farrell said that the days in Dublin will include a Seminar on the protection of children with Cardinal Sean Patrick O’Malley, President of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors.
The Meeting of Families will reaffirm that “Yes! The Family Is Still Good News for Today.”
