Three Claretians (Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary) were kidnapped in the Anglophone region in southwest Cameroon: Fr. Jude Thaddeus Langeh Basebang, Fr. Placide Muntong and a student from the same religious congregation, according to a November 26, 2018, report by Fides News Agency.
The three were kidnapped on November 24 by armed men on the road to Muyenge, where they were going on a mission of evangelization and assistance at the local parish.
At the moment there is no further information on the identity of the kidnappers.
In the crisis that is upsetting the two Anglophone regions of Cameroon, men of the Church are increasingly victims. On November 21, Fr. Cosmas Omboto Ondari, a Kenyan missionary belonging to the Missionary Society of St. Joseph of Mill Hill, was killed in Kembong, a few kilometers from Memfe, the provincial capital of the South-Eastern Province
