ANNOUNCEMENT: Lisbon, Portugal to Host World Youth Day 2022

Portugal will host the next World Youth Day, which will be held in 2022, Cardinal Kevin Joseph Farrell, Prefect of the Vatican’s Dicastery of Laity, the Family and Life, announced, at the conclusion of the closing Mass of the XXXIV World Youth Day in Panama, on Sunday, January 27, 2019.
The international meeting of young Catholics will be in Lisbon, after having been held in Panama City from January 22-27, 2019.
The World Youth Day has had the following international venues: Rome 1984-85, Buenos Aires 1987, Santiago de Compostela 1989, Czestochowa 1991, Denver 1993, Manila 1995, Paris 1997, Rome 2000, Toronto 2002, Germany 2005, Sydney 2008 , Madrid 2011, Rio de Janeiro 2013, Krakow 2016 and Panama 2019.
