Pope Francis on November 10, 2019, asked for prayers for Bolivia, where violence in the streets has claimed several lives and caused scores of injuries in recent weeks following October’s disputed election results.
“I also wish to entrust to your prayer the situation in beloved Bolivia, neighbor of my homeland,” the Pope said after praying the noonday Angelus with pilgrims gathered in St. Peter’s Square. “I invite all Bolivians, in particular, the political and social actors, to wait in peace, with a constructive spirit, and without any previous condition, in an atmosphere of peace and serenity, for the results of the process of revision of the elections, which is currently underway.”
The Archbishop of Santa Cruz, Mgr. Sergio Gualberti, and the Archbishop of Cochabamba, Oscar Omar Aparicio, together with their Auxiliaries, have called for a sincere dialogue between political, civil and citizen protagonists, as the only way to authentic peace in Bolivia.
