«Corruption kills the moral of society,» said Fr. Moses Omollo, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Kisumu, on the occasion of the launch of the 2020 Lent Campaign, reported Fides News Agency. Addressing the Christian faithful in the Cathedral of Saint Teresa in Kisumu, Fr. Omollo urged them to avoid any practice of corruption and to put aside tribalism, supporting the commitment of Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB). «We must resist the evil of tribalism that can degenerate into corrupt relations» continues the Vicar who launched the campaign.»

«It is an obligation as well as a duty that, as administrators responsible for God’s creation, the Church leaders and the faithful are at the forefront of the national anti-corruption campaign titled: ‘Breaking the chain of corruption’, said Fr. Omollo echoing the theme of this year’s Lenten Campaign, for a nation transformed and converted by the grace of God.

The Vicar General reminded Christians of the key points of Lent which are prayer, fasting and almsgiving and urged them to «oppose the vicious circle that compromises development and divides the Country into tribal groups».
The launch of this year’s National Lent Campaign was held on February 22, 2020, at the Subukia National Marian Shrine, in the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru. Clergy, men and women religious and lay people participated in the function, including members of the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace, from various parishes and institutions of the archdiocese.
