Pope Francis has renewed his urgent appeal to take care of God’s gift of creation.
Saying the earth no longer forgives, Francis expressed this in a videomessage to the world’s Catholics for Laudato Si’ week, May 16-24, 2020, for the fifth anniversary of the encyclical on the environment’s publication.
The Spanish message begins with the Pope posing the question: «What kind of world do we want to leave to those who succeed us, to the children who are growing up? (Laudato si’, 160).»
«Motivated by that question,» the Holy Father said, «I would like to invite you to participate in Laudato si’ week.»
The week, he explained, is a global campaign on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the Laudato si’ Encyclical Letter on the care of the common house.
«I renew my urgent call to respond to the ecological crisis,» Francis said, stressing: «The cry of the earth and the cry of the poor no longer forgive.»
Encouraging faithful to «take care of Creation, the gift of our good Creator God,» Francis stressed: «Let’s celebrate together Laudato Si week.
Pope Francis concluded saying, giving his blessing and reminding them to pray for him.
