Nation Struck by 5.3 Magnitude Earthquake

Pope Francs on March 22, 2020, said he was close to the people of Croatia; the nation was struck early Sunday by a 5.3 magnitude earthquake, according to the European seismological agency, EMSC The agency said the earthquake struck a wide area north of the capital, Zagreb. News agencies report significant damage.

“I express my closeness to the population of Croatia, affected this morning by an earthquake May the Lord give them the strength and solidarity to face this calamity,” the Pope said. “And, don’t forget: take the Gospel today and read tranquilly, slowly chapter nine of John. I’ll do it too. It will do us all good.”
