As many Italian hospitals lack the equipment to save people infected with COVID19, Pope Francis has given the Papal Almoner 30 ventilators to distribute where needed. This decision was announced yesterday, March 26, 2020, in an evening statement from the Office of Papal Charities. "In the afternoon today," the brief statement reads, "the Holy Father has entrusted 30 ventilators purchased in recent days to the Papal Almoner, Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, to give to Italian hospital structures in the areas most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic." "Such structures," it concluded, "will be identified in the coming days."
