(ZENIT News / San Francisco, 29.10.2022).- Early on Friday morning, October 28, the husband of Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, was attacked with a hammer inside his home in San Francisco, California. Although the offender was arrested, no further details have been given on the reason for the attack.

Two American Bishops expressed their closeness to Mrs Pelosi. Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco wrote on Twitter: “Join me in prayer for the speedy recovery of Paul Pelosi and the consolation of his wife and also his family. Mother Mary, hear our prayer.”

For his part, Archbishop José Gómez of Los Angeles, President of the American Episcopate sent a statement, which read: “I join Archbishop Cordileone to offer my prayers for Paul Pelosi’s complete recovery and his family’s consolation, after this morning’s terrible attack. I am deeply saddened by this violence, which should not have a place in our communities., our political process or our great nation. May Our Lady of Perpetual intercede for us, give healing and guides us on paths of peace.”
