Vatican Makes Known Formally Agenda of Coptic Patriarch Tawadros II’s Historic Visit to  Pope Francis

He will attend the general audience on Wednesday, May 10. On Thursday, May 11, he will have a private meeting with Pope Francis.

(ZENIT News / Vatican City, 05.08.2023).- On May 10-11, Pope Francis and Patriarch Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Head of the Coptic Orthodox Church, will celebrate together the 50th anniversary of the historic meeting of their Predecessors, Pope Saint Paul VI and Pope Shenouda III, which took place in May of 1973. 

On this occasion, Patriarch Tawadros will attend the Wednesday General Audience on May 10, and have a private meeting with Pope Francis on May 11. After praying together, the Patriarch will visit the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity. He will also meet with the faithful of the Coptic community residing in Rome, for whom he will celebrate a Liturgical Eucharist in the papal Basilica of Saint John Lateran on Sunday, May 14.
