Catholic Priest Murdered in Africa

He had less than a year as a priest.

(ZENIT News / Edo, Nigeria, 06.11.2023).- Murdered on June 7 was Father Chares Onomhoale Igechi, priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin, in the Nigerian state of Edo. His remains were found in the Boundary Street of Ikpoba Hill, in the local government of Ikpoba.

Those responsible for the murder are still unknown. 

Father Onomhoale Igechi was ordained priest less than a year ago, on August 13, 2022 and was Vice-Director of Saint Michael’s College of Ikhueniro.

Aid to the Church in Need continues denouncing the intolerable trickle of murders and abductions of Nigerian Catholic priests and calls on the competent authorities to begin immediately to combat and suppress these criminal phenomena.
