(ZENIT News / Vatican City, 14.09.2023).- On Thursday, September 14, the Holy See Press Office communicated five appointments of the Pope, which affect five people. The areas and individuals involved are:
Monsignor José Rodríguez Carballo, moves from being Secretary of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life to Coadjutor Bishop of the Spanish diocese of Mérida-Badajoz;
Antonio Spadaro, Jesuit priest, journalist and writer and Editor-in-Chief for 12 years of the Italian journal La Civiltà Cattolica, was appointed Under-Secretary of the Dicastery for Culture and Education;
Jesuit priest Marek Andrzej was appointed President of the Pontifical Committee of Historical Sciences. Up to the moment of his appointment, he was Professor at the Gregorian University;
Monsignor Joseph Murphy was appointed Under-Secretary of the Section for the Personnel of the Holy See’s diplomatic role in the Secretariat of State. Prior to his new appointment, he was Head of Protocol of the Secretariat of State.
Finally, Pope Francis appointed Monsignor Javier Domingo Fernández Head of Protocol of the Secretariat of State. Prior to this appointment he was an Official of the Secretariat of State’s Section for Relations with States and International Organizations.
