(ZENIT News / Vatican City, 02.15.2024).- Pope Francis received in audience, on the morning of Thursday, February 15, Mr. Ion-Marcel Ciolacu, Prime Minister of Romania. «Today I had the special opportunity to speak at the Vatican with His Holiness Pope Francis and express gratitude for the support provided to Romanian communities in Italy and throughout Europe,» the Prime Minister said on his Facebook account.
After the meeting with the Pope, the Prime Minister met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, accompanied by Monsignor Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.
During the cordial discussions at the Secretariat of State, high-level strengthening of relations between the Holy See and Romania was addressed, along with ways to further consolidate bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the Romanian people, especially in the field of education.
Subsequently, a series of mutually interesting and current topics were reviewed, such as the conflict in Israel and Palestine and in Ukraine, the reception of migrants and refugees, and even the prospects for expanding the European project.
