Two vans, adorned with banners reading «The Catholic Church in Iraq, the Brotherhood of Charity,» left from the Caritas-Iraq headquarters in Baghdad for the Fallujah public hospital, accompanied by Caritas-Iraq staff. The supplies arrived last Thursday.

Plans for an additional donation of medical supplies and food are under way, said Caritas Internationalis.

A coalition offensive, launched against insurgents in the city of Fallujah on Nov. 8, unleashed intense battles. Most of the population has fled the city.

Caritas Internationalis is a confederation of 162 Catholic relief, development and social-service organizations.
