«The Holy Father has said he will visit Poland and that the visit is foreseen for the last 10 days of May,» the archbishop told the Polish agency PAP.

He added: «The Pope will visit Warsaw, Czestochowa and Krakow. As a general rule, the visits of the Holy Father Benedict XVI will be short — three or four days, or two or three days.»

The Pope himself announced that he would travel to Poland, probably in June, in an interview he gave to Polish television a few months ago.

Archbishop Stanislaw Dziwisz of Krakow announced Dec. 6 that the Pope might bring up his trip because of the monthlong World Cup soccer tournament, set to begin June 6 in Germany.
