(ZENIT News / Rome 19.02.2023).- From February 27 to March 1, 2023, the Acton Institute and the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum will be offering the 4th edition of the Symposium “War and Peace: Conflict and Culture in the Modern World.” The Symposium will be directed to professors, doctorate and post-graduate students and includes a group of prominent speakers.
The Symposium’s main inspiration is the theme of war/peace, but what is most important is that it is oriented to finding peaceful and prosperous solutions, while reconstructing a genuine Christian culture.
The discussions will be in English and will include the “War in Ukraine” (Auxiliary Bishop Stepan Sus of Kiev,) “Cultural Struggle for a Free Society” (Father Robert Sirico, Acton Institute), “Spiritual Warfare Today” (Archbishop Zbignevs Stankevics of Riga, Latvia), “The Divisive Influence of Media” (Michael Miller, Acton Institute), “The Political and Economic Visions of War and Peace” (Professor Carlo Lottieri), Geopolitics (John O’Sullivan), “War in History: Motivations and Justifications” (Professor John Pinheiro, Acton Institute), “War and Peace: Conflict and Culture in the Modern World. An Overview” (Father Eamonn O’Higgins, LC, Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum) and ending with a “how” through a talk on “Effective Tactics for Rebuilding an Authentic Christian Culture” (Professor Philip Booth, St. Mary’s University, London). Andrea Gilli of NATO is also among the speakers.
The format is of 40 minutes per conference and 30 minutes of debate during two afternoons and one full day, and a valuable session on networking.
