The district magistrate and Zilla Parishad president of North 24 Parganas District in West Bengal honored the priests of Bongaon and Monsadah parishes for their service.
At a ceremony Oct. 12 at Barasat district headquarters, Father Peter Gomes, former parish priest of Bongaon, and Father Kissum Tudu, assistant parish priest of Monsadh, received a certificate of appreciation from the district magistrate.
These two parishes, located on the Indo-Bangladesh border, belong to the Archdiocese of Calcutta.
Hundreds of flood victims, irrespective of caste and creed, sought shelter in the school and hostel buildings. The Salesians collected food, medicine and clothes, and distributed them according to the needs of the people.
