BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, MARCH 21, 2011 (Zenit.org).- The bishops of Argentina are encouraging the faithful to observe the Day of the Unborn Child this Friday by participating in a Rosary for Life.
The rosary will take place March 25 at the Cathedral of Buenos Aires, led by Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio, archbishop of Buenos Aires. A statement from the Episcopal Conference of Argentina said the event will be a moment to reflect on the “moral and juridical gravity” of abortion.
“We advance toward a common strategy to oppose abortion,” the statement added, “which for the Church is unacceptable.”
BUENOS AIRES, MARCH 22, 2004 (Zenit.org).- The Buenos Aires Archdiocese’s observance of the Day of the Unborn this week comes at a time when sectors of society are pressing for the legalization of abortion.
“In 2017, may we dedicate ourselves prayerfully and actively to banishing violence from our hearts, words and deeds, and to becoming nonviolent people and to building nonviolent communities that care for our common home”
“It’s easy to believe that Christians in this country might soon face the cross of martyrdom. We are not immune from the persecution the Church has faced for 2,000 years. My friends, we cannot be afraid of that persecution. We live for eternity.”
