Cardinal Filoni in Taiwan to Close Eucharistic Congress

Also Will Visit Macao and Hong Kong

The Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, is traveling to Taiwan where he will preside, as Special Envoy of the Holy Father, the closing celebration of the IV National Taiwan Eucharistic Congress, on Friday, March 1, 2019, according to Fides News Agency. Then he will continue his pastoral visit to Macao and Hong Kong.
The Cardinal will arrive in the morning (local time) on Thursday, February 28, in Taiwan, welcomed by a delegation of the local Church. In the afternoon, courtesy visits to local authorities are scheduled. On Friday, March 1, the Cardinal will go to Yunlin, where a welcome ceremony in the stadium will be held and, in the afternoon, the Eucharistic celebration and the final procession of the National Eucharistic Congress. The meeting with the Bishops of the Chinese Regional Episcopal Conference will follow. On Saturday, March 2, Cardinal Filoni will celebrate Mass at the Holy Rosary church and will then preside over the inauguration of the “S. Anna” home for the elderly. In the afternoon he will return to Taipei where he will visit the Fu Jen University Hospital, S. Roberto Bellarmino faculty of theology and the Regional Seminary.
On Sunday, March 3, the Prefect of the Missionary Dicastery will arrive in Macau, where he will visit the new Seminary in the afternoon and meet the seminarians. There will also be a meeting with priests and collaborators of the diocese and finally Mass in the Cathedral of Macao. On Monday, March 4, Cardinal Filoni will bless the new campus of Saint Joseph University, where he will celebrate Mass and meet professors and students. In the afternoon departure for Hong Kong.
On Tuesday, March 5, Cardinal Filoni will visit the new “Caritas Institute of Higher Education” (CIHE) in Hong Kong, where he will meet the diocesan clergy and professors, give a talk followed by questions and answers, then celebrate Mass in the new chapel, after having blessed the Center for the disabled. In the afternoon the Cardinal will visit the Holy Spirit seminary. On the morning of Wednesday, March 6, he will leave Hong Kong for Rome.
