The Holy Father accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the Diocese of Guarapuava (Brazil) presented by HE Mons. Antônio Wagner da Silva, SCI
The Holy Father appointed Bishop Amilton Manoel da Silva, CP, Bishop of the Diocese of Guarapuava (Brazil), transferring him from the titular seat of Tusuro and from the Auxiliary Office of the Archdiocese Curitiba.
HE Mons. Amilton Manoel da Silva, CP
HE Mons. Amilton Manoel da Silva, CP, was born on March 2, 1963, in Osvaldo Cruz, in the Diocese of Marília, State of São Paulo. He completed his studies in Philosophy at the Federal University of Paraná in Curitiba (1992-1995) and those of Theology at the Institute of Theology of São Paulo-ITESP (1997-2000). He made his religious profession on January 18, 1997, as a member of the Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ (Passionists) and then received priestly ordination on December 17, 2000.
Within his Congregation, he carried out the following tasks: Formator of Postulants; Master of Novices; Coordinator of the spirituality team of the Province of Calvary and of the Passionist family of Brazil; Training team coordinator for various countries in America; Member of the team of the General Council for Formation; Provincial Councilor; Provincial Superior of the Passionist Province of Calvary based in São Paulo. In addition, he was Councilor of the Conference of Religious of Brazil (Regional of Paraná), Parochial Vicar in Colombo-PR and Ponta Grossa-PR, and Parish Priest of São Paulo da Cruz in the Archdiocese of São Paulo.
On June 7, 2017, he was appointed titular Bishop of Tusuro and Auxiliary of Curitiba and received episcopal ordination on the following 19 August.
Within the Brazilian Episcopal Conference, he is a Member of the Episcopal Commission for Youth and Secretary of the Regional Sul 2, which includes the ecclesiastical circumscriptions of the State of Paraná.
Appointment of the Bishop of Nova Friburgo (Brazil)
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Luiz Antônio Lopes Ricci of the Diocese of Nova Friburgo (Brazil), transferring him from the titular seat of Tindari and from the Auxiliary Office of the Archdiocese of Niterói.
HE Msgr. Luiz Antônio Lopes Ricci
HE Msgr. Luiz Antônio Lopes Ricci was born on May 16, 1966, in Bauru, in the diocese of the same name, in the state of São Paulo. He completed his ecclesiastical studies in Marília: Philosophy at the Sagrado Coração de Jesus Provincial Seminary (1991-1993) and Theology at the Rainha dos Apóstolos Theological Institute (1994-1997). He then obtained the License (1997-1999) and the Doctorate (2004-2007) in Moral Theology at the Alfonsian Academy in Rome. In addition, he attended the postdoctoral course in Bioethics at the São Camilo University Center in São Paulo (2013-2014).
On July 10, 1997, he was ordained a priest and was incardinated in the Diocese of Bauru, in which he carried out the following duties: Vice-Rector and then Rector of the Seminary of the Province of Botucatu based in Marília-SP; Parochial Administrator of Senhor Bom Jesus do Mirante in Cabrália Paulista-SP and Santa Maria in Piratininga-SP; Parish priest of São Cristóvão in Bauru; Spiritual Assistant of the Encontro de Casais Movement with Christ; Diocesan pastoral coordinator; Vicar General; Member of the Presbyteral Council and of the College of Consultors. In addition, he was Professor and Director of the João Paulo II Faculty (FAJOPA) of the Ecclesiastical Province of Botucatu based in Marília.
On May 10, 2017, he was appointed titular Bishop of Tindari and Auxiliary of the Archdiocese of Niterói, receiving episcopal ordination on the following 16 July.
Within the Brazilian Episcopal Conference, he is a Member of the Episcopal Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith.
