Tens of thousands of people went in the Marches for Life and Family through the streets of 62 Polish cities on Sunday, June 10. Their motto “Poland Strong Through Family” refers to the 100th anniversary of Poland’s regaining independence and the 40th anniversary of the election of St. John Paul II. In the marches took part also Polish Bishops.
Marches for Life and Family are organized to give public testimony of the basic value of human life from conception and a family based on the marriage of a woman and a man, open to receiving and raising children.
Each year marches are organized under a different motto. This year’s motto “Poland Strong Through Family” refers, among others, to the 100th anniversary of Poland’s regaining independence and the 40th anniversary of the election of Pope John Paul II. The motto emphasizes the role of families in building the future of the Homeland.
“We shall be grateful for what we receive from others, and especially for life. Let us thank God for life, remembering that we live only once. Let’s use this gift as best as possible” – said Archbishop Stanislaw Budzik, Metropolitan of Lublin, during the March for Life and Family in Lublin.
“This year’s Marches for Life and Family are a platform for building national solidarity around these tasks that John Paul II encouraged us to pursue”, write the organizers of the marches.
The first March for Life and Family took place in 2006 in Warsaw. Over the past 13 years, the marches took place in more than 150 cities and towns, and this number is growing every year.
