The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Mykola Petro Luchok, O.P., currently superior of the community of the Order of Preachers in Lviv, as auxiliary bishop of Mukachevo of the Latins, assigning him the titular see of Giru Marcelli.

Bishop-elect Mykola Petro Luchok, O.P., was born on 26 March 1974 in Mukachevo. In 1994 he entered the Order of Preachers, in which he gave his religious vows in 2000. He received his religious formation in the philosophical-theological College of his Order in Krakow, Poland.

He was ordained a priest on 24 June 2003, and carried out his pastoral ministry in Yalta, Saint Petersburg (Russian Federation), Chortkiv, Lviv and Khmelnitskyi. Since July 2018 he has been superior of the Order of Preachers in Lviv.

Aside from Ukrainian, he knows Hungarian, Slovakian, Russian, Polish and English.

The Holy Father has appointed as under-secretary of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue the Reverend Fr. Paulin Batairwa Kubuya, S.X., executive secretary of the Episcopal Commission for Interreligious and Ecumenical Dialogue of the Regional Episcopal Conference of Taiwan and associate lecturer in the Department of Religious Studies of the Fu Jen Catholic University.
