Pope Francis on January 13, 2020, received Alfredo Osvaldo Augusto Ratti Jaeggli, Ambassador of Paraguay to the Holy See, in an audience on the occasion of the presentation of the ambassador’s credentials.

He was born in Asunción on June 20, 1939

He is married and has two children

He graduated in Law and the title of Lawyer at the National University of Asunción (1965), perfecting his studies in International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh (1969) and the Loyola University of New Orleans (1970).

He held the following positions: National Leader of Catholic Action in Paraguay (1962 – 1968); Deputy Director of the Education Center for Public Administration Workers, University of Asunción (1964 – 1971); Professor of the Catholic University “NS de Asunción” (1972 – 1988); President of the legal-commercial consultancy company Monitor (1973 – 2003); Director of the Paraguay Peace Corps Volunteers Training Center (1974 – 1980); Vice-President of the Consultora Electromón Company, for the construction of the Itaipú hydroelectric plant (1982 – 1990);

Senator, President of the Public Works and Foreign Affairs Commissions (2003 – 2008); Currently Financial Manager on the Board of Directors of Auad y Cia construcciones and Ingaer SA

He knows English, Italian, and Guaraní.
