Pope to US Youth: ‘Strengthen and Grow in Faith and Communion’

Video Message to National Catholic Youth Conference

The following is the text of the video message sent by the Holy Father Francis to the young people participating in the meeting organized by the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) in Indianapolis, from November 12-23, 2019, at the Indiana Convention Center, on the theme “Blessed, Broken, Given”:

Video Message of the Holy Father

Dear young people of NCYC [National Catholic Youth Conference], I send you a very affectionate greeting and my prayers in this meeting you are experiencing. May it be an opportunity to strengthen and grow in faith and communion; may it kindle your missionary hearts with the courage and strength to live in and with the Lord, in an outgoing Church! Always.

Today, as in the beginning, we need to go out to encounter each person; moreover, it is our mission to do so, especially the most distant and those who suffer. We must reach the existential peripheries of our world! You know your contemporaries, you know that many are alone, that many do not know Jesus. Go, go and take the Lord, go and fill up your environments, even the digital ones, not with convictions, not to convince, not to proselytize, but rather by bearing witness to Jesus’ tenderness and mercy.

I bless you with all my heart, and do not forget to pray for me! Thank you.
