The Pope articulated his “instructions” at the conclusion of today’s Mass in which he beatified three members of the institution.
“The first is ‘contemplation’: Commit yourselves to walk on the path of holiness, with your eyes fixed on Jesus, only Teacher and Savior of all,” the Holy Father said before praying the Angelus with 250,000 people on hand.
“The second instruction is ‘communion’,” he added, in a weak voice after the long Mass over which he presided in the Montorso esplanade near the national Marian shrine of Loreto.
“Try to promote the spirituality of unity with the pastors of the Church, with all brothers of faith, and with the other ecclesial entities. Be ferment of dialogue with all men of good will,” the Pope exhorted.
“The third instruction is ‘mission,'” he said. “Take, as laity, the ferment of the Gospel to homes and schools, to places of work and times of leisure. The Gospel is word and hope of salvation for the world.”
Catholic Action has 400,000 registered members in Italy, a third of them adolescents, according to L’Osservatore Romano.
