Having learned the news of the death of His Excellency Cardinal Ersilio Tonini, Archbishop Emeritus of Ravenna-Cervia, I wish to express to Your Excellency and to the whole diocesan community my deepest condolences and, while I unite myself to the prayers of suffrage for the eternal repose of the deceased and meritorious cardinal, communicator of God, I assure you of my spiritual closeness to the grief of those who mourn his passing.
