BANGALORE, India, MAY 21, 2001 (Zenit.org).- A parish´s system of electronically recording details of families on cards has the archbishop´s approval.

Archbishop Ignatius Pinto of Bangalore said he favored the recording of details of Catholic families in the various parishes of the archdiocese using an e-card recently developed by Father John Anthony of St. Anthony’s Church, Uttarahalli.

He told SAR News that he would gradually introduce e-cards in the archdiocese. He said all urban parishes in Bangalore can afford a computer and most families can afford an e-card that costs 200 rupees — about $6.38.

«Parishes can help those who cannot afford it and the diocese can help parishes with financial difficulty,» Archbishop Pinto said. «Just like spiritual matters, priests need to be given technical training. They are used to the old style of manual recording.»
