Florida Bishop´s Resignation Accepted

PALM BEACH, Florida, MARCH 13, 2002 (Zenit.org).- John Paul II accepted the resignation of a Florida bishop who sexually abused a teen-age student at a Missouri seminary more than a quarter-century ago.

The Pope accepted the resignation offered by Bishop Anthony J. O´Connell of Palm Beach, the Vatican Press Office said in a statement today.

Bishop O´Connell, 63, offered his resignation last week, admitting to allegations made by Christopher Dixon, now 40.
