Father Giulio Albanese, director of the Missionary Service News Agency, said the “initiative will be very useful especially for those missionaries in the world’s South who do not have Catholic bookstores within reach, but who do have access to Internet.” Swahili is used widely in East Africa.

Among the documents available in Swahili on the Internet are Vatican II’s constitutions: “Dei Verbum” (on divine revelation), “Lumen Gentium” (on the Church), “Sacrosanctum Concilium” (on the sacred liturgy) and “Gaudium et Spes” (on the Church in the modern world).

These and the other Vatican II documents are posted at www.vatican.va/archive/hist_councils/ii_vatican_council/index_sp.htm.
