The newspaper Svet Evangelija (Light of the Gospel) has a circulation of 4,500 in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Editor Victor Khroul attributes the situation to a decrease in subscribers and to the lack of support of German charitable institutions that offered financial aid in the past.

Svet Evangelija, which has just celebrated its 10th anniversary, received the Titus Brandsma Award in Bangkok, Thailand, last month, at the world congress of the International Catholic Union of the Press.
