The aim of the Dec. 18 musical event is to raise funds to build churches in outlying neighborhoods of Rome, where the faithful sometimes have to use garages or provisional premises for Mass.
Final arrangements for the concert in Paul VI Hall are yet to be made, but the concert’s Web page already lists some of the names of the artists.
The Sicilian Symphony Orchestra will accompany performers such as Chinese lyric singer Hong Mei Nie, and Italian artists Massimo Ranieri, Max Pezzali, Antonella Ruggiero, and Ron.
The Virginia State University Gospel Chorale will also take part in the musical event, which will include medleys and duets.
Since their première in 1993, these concerts have mixed numerous musical styles in a happy and natural Christmas atmosphere.
The artists’ press conference, to present the concert, will be held in the Vatican on Dec. 17. The Holy Father will receive the singers in audience.
