Some 600 members of this ecclesial reality were in Paul VI Hall today for the Pope’s general audience. Accompanying them were their founders, Kiko Argüello, Carmen Hernández and Father Mario Pezzi.
«I thank you for your generous dedication to the New Evangelization,» the Holy Father told the Neocatechumenal Way members at the end of the audience.
«I hope that the reflection of these days will help you to grow more deeply and with a docile spirit in communion, both with the pastors of the local Churches as well as with appropriate organizations of the Holy See,» he said. «Thus you will be able to contribute ever more effectively to the cause of the Gospel.»
The Neocatechumenal Way, whose statutes were approved by the Vatican in 2002, is «at the service of the diocesan bishops and parish priests as a way to rediscover the sacrament of baptism, and of continuing education in the faith.»
The Way is active in more than 900 dioceses. More than 1,000 priests of the Way have been ordained.
