A statement by the headquarters of the movement, addressed to its members and sent to ZENIT, requests «all to pray the rosary for Don Giussani who is in serious condition for pneumonitis, although there is a certain positive response to treatments.»

Monsignor Giussani, 82, is being treated in his Milan residence. Doctors have not speculated publicly on how long his recovery would take.

The aim of Communion and Liberation is the education to Christian maturity of its followers and collaboration in the mission of the Church in all spheres of life. Begun in 1954 in Italy, the group is now present in about 70 countries.
