Documentary Done on Vigil and Funeral

ROME, APRIL 12, 2005 (Zenit.org).- Five film directors, who mingled among the millions who prayed for John Paul II during the last vigil and the funeral, have produced a documentary on those events.

The firm Lux Vide has produced the film with the participation of directors Gabriele Muccino, Luciano Manuzzi, Massimo Costa, Giulio Base and Umberto Marino.

The title «For Whom Are You Looking?» is inspired by words that John Paul II addressed to young people. Archbishop Angelo Comastri recalled those words during the prayer vigil before the Pope’s death April 2.

«It is the same question we asked ourselves, given the incredible number of people who wished to take part in the mourning, coping with travel and extremely difficult situations,» said producers Matilde and Luca Bernabei in a statement.

When editing material on the faithful who gathered on the afternoon and night of April 2, the producers realized that «it was very different from what we saw on television. So the idea came to us to ask directors who are friends to go to different places to film.»

The directors went to several squares in the city of Rome, from which they followed the Pope’s funeral rites, and interviewed people involved with the organization.
