Vatican Stamp Commemorates Benedict XVI

VATICAN CITY, JUNE 3, 2005 (Zenit.org).- A series of three stamps commemorating the election of Benedict XVI has been issued by the Philatelic office of Vatican City.

The stamps went on sale today in Vatican City, and are being sold in sheets of six.

The stamps include the date of the Holy Father’s election in Roman numerals: XIX IV MMV (19 April 2005).

Three different phrases in Latin appear: «Habemus Papam» («We have a Pope»), «Tu es Petrus» («You are Peter») and «Episcopus Romae» («Bishop of Rome»).

The stamps are sold in values of 0.45 euro (55 cents), 0.62 euro (77 cents) and 0.80 euro (98 cents).
