The Pope offered that view today when greeting the tens of thousands of people gathered in St. Peter’s Square.

Some of those present were getting ready for the World Day of Blood Donors, this Tuesday.

The World Day’s objective is to get people to become regular blood donors. About four out of every five countries are in need of supplies of stable, safe blood donations, according to the World Health Organization.

“I know you participated in the Holy Mass presided over by Cardinal Lozano Barragán, president of the Pontifical Council for Health Care Workers,” the Pope said when addressing a greeting to the blood donors.

He added: “May Christ, who has redeemed us with his blood, always be the model for your volunteers.”
