Prayers Asked for Victims of Natural Disasters

VATICAN CITY, OCT. 26, 2005 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI invited the faithful to pray the rosary for those affected by the spate of recent natural disasters around the world.

At the end of the general audience today, the Pope proposed to the more than 50,000 people gathered in St. Peter’s Square “to pray with devotion this prayer, cherished by the Christian people’s tradition.”

“Let us pray for the numerous needs of the Church and of the world, in a special way for the peoples hit by earthquakes and physical and environmental calamities,” the Holy Father said.

He added: “May our spiritual and material support never fail those who are in difficulty.”
